The purpose was to investigate the relationship between plasma drug concentrations, drug disposition genes and virological response (e.g. achieving and maintaining of undetectable viral load)
Drug concentrations and drug disposition gene patterns may explain virological failure or development of toxicity in HIV-infected patients. This ancillary study allowed for identifying what subgroup of patients fail therapy, or develops toxicity, for pharmacological reasons.
All patients included in the main study participated in this ancillary study, provided that they had signed the pharmacogenetics informed consent.
