Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS)
The Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS) was established in 1988 and is a nationwide observational study with continuous enrolment of people with HIV in Switzerland. Data is collected in seven large outpatient hospitals, 16 regional hospitals and 45 private physicians across Switzerland, covering around 70% of people currently on antiretroviral therapy in Switzerland. In semi-annual study visits, socio-demographic, clinical and laboratory information including genetic data is collected. Until 07/2023, 21’797 participants have been enrolled, 5’476 have died during active follow-up and 9,396 participants are currently followed.
